It has emerged that embattled FKF boss Nick Mwendwa has not recorded a statement with the police since his arrest on Friday.
Mwendwa was picked by detectives while driving along Kiambu roads and spend the weekend locked up at Gigiri police station.
The FKF boss is expected to be arraigned in court on Monday but it is unclear the files that will be used for the court session.
Further reports indicate that the Director of Public Prosecution has not received any file on Mwendwa’s case.
The FKF boss is likely to face charges of failing to account for Kshs29.5 million that is said to be missing in FKF accounts.
He will also be charged with misappropriation of Kshs8.5 million at the federation.
His lawyers have however protested his arrest considering the fact that the court had closed his file last week pending further investigations.
LSK president Nelson Havi termed Mwendwa’s arrest as a kidnapping since he was arrested without any charges.
“FKF President Nick Mwendwa is not under arrest. He has been kidnapped and is being detained without charge at the DCI Headquarters. The police cannot seize someone who the Court has freed for want of a charge. This egregious conduct by George Kinoti should be condemned,” Havi shared in a tweet.
On the other hand, Eric Mutua wrote a letter to the Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai accusing the police of unlawfully detaining his client.
“We shall hold you and all concerned officers individually and or personally liable for the false imprisonment, unlawful confinement, abuse of police powers, abuse of office and violation of his rights,” part of Mutua’s letter read.
Last week, Mwendwa was set free after the prosecution failed to prefer charges against him. The magistrate also ordered that he be refunded the Kshs4 million he paid to be released on bail
