Fred Matiang’i back in Kenya after two weeks trip abroad

Date:

After spending two weeks in the UK for personal reasons, the former interior cabinet secretary Fred Matiang’i is said to have flown back to Kenya on Saturday.

After receiving prior summonses, Matiangi is now contemplating on appearing before the DCI hq in Nairobi for statement recording, according to sources closest to him.

He arrived onboard KLM Flight 0566 on Saturday, and his immediate family met him at JKIA.

His departure on February 19 generated rumors that he had fled illegally, but he later made it clear that he was taking a private trip to the UK and would return.

People in the know claimed that he was eager to dispel allegations of publishing misleading material.

It had been made known by the Immigration Service that Matiangi had departed the country a week before being summoned.

The letter stated that the subject took KLM flight number KL566 out of JKIA on February 19, 2023.

Director General Emmanuel Simiyu authored the letter, which was dated February 28, 2023.

On February 24, 2023, Matiang’i was required to appear before the DCI.

Matiang’i was ordered by detective Michael Sang to show up at Mazingira House at 9.30 a.m. without fail.

Matiang’i asserted that because he was away, he would not be available for the DCI to interrogation.

The point of contention centers on the supposed raid, in which the police claimed not to have been involved and claimed to have asked a judge for permission to retrieve Video evidence from Matiang’i’s house.

On February 15, the police allegedly broke into his home, ravaged it, and then they left.
