Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has tabled four options that he will be left with incase he decides to ditch Azimio la Umoja.
His party, Maendeleo Chap Chap and several others have threatened to take the action after it appeared like the major parties in the coalition, Jubilee, ODM and Wiper, were secluding them in making decisions for the coalition an example being the appointment of Raphael Tuju as the Executive Director of Azimio.
According to Mutua, they only learnt about the appointment on the news and were not involved in making the decision.
“We were told that he will be deputized by someone from Wiper, ODMÂ and Jubilee. So they are the ones going to be making decisions on nominations for Azimio including parties who are allied to Azimio like ourselves yet we are not even represented in that” he said during the Daybreak Show at Citizen TV.
Mutua feels that they are now being kicked out of the coalition because it is like they are no longer needed and went ahead to list his four options.
“We have four options but the best option for us is let’s clean this up and let’s continue. The other four options are, I can decide to let Maendeleo Chap Chap get out and continue on its own and we will negotiate as a party with Azimio after the elections.
“Or we decided Yesterday we can form our own coalition, Mwanzo Mpya and this coalition can now be the fourth pillar in Azimio or negotiate later,” Mutua said.
The parties likely to be under Mwanzo Mpya include Maendeleo Chap Chap, DAP-K, Muungano, Kenya Reform Party, CCU, PPT, NARC and Maendeleo Democratic Party.
Mutua added that the third option is joining Kenya Kwanza while revealing that Ruto called him following his threat to quit Azimio la Umoja but he is yet to talk to him.
“I haven’t spoken to him, his people have been calling me the last few weeks including my good friend Senator Cherargei. He is calling me because he is seeing an opportunity coming, I haven’t talked to him, I won’t talk to him until I talk to my people,” Mutua noted
“I also have the option of renewing my presidential bid and say let me go to the ballot. We are not lost of options. What we want is to be treated with respect. We are doing this for Raila Amollo Odinga,” he added.
