Former CS, Henry Rotich in court for Ksh 63 billion Arror and Kimwarer dams scandal

Date:

Former Treasury CS, Henry Rotich will return to court today.

This is in connection with the Ksh 63 billion Arror and Kimwarer dams corruption case.

The reference comes after Lawrence Mugambi, a former trial magistrate, was appointed a High Court judge.

Mugambi ordered that another magistrate be assigned to the case as a result last month.

There had only been two witnesses present at this point, and the second had not yet been subjected to cross-examination.

In addition to 20 Italians and two former Treasury Principal Secretaries, Kamau Thugge and Susan Koech, Rotich had been charged; however, the DPP changed the charge sheet to remove the former PSs and replace them with state witnesses.

“Mugambi handed the file back to the Chief Magistrate for reallocation last month. “Considering it’s a very new hearing, I think it will be smart to take it to another magistrate,” Mugambi stated.

He claimed that if that had been the final witness, he would have been able to wrap up the case and issue a ruling.

“Given that just two witnesses have testified, the trial court has been upgraded, and it is not convenient for the court to hear the case because there are numerous more witnesses who have not yet testified, according to Mugambi.
