This week, social media has been awash with the ‘Murife Don’t run’ viral clips with Kenyans going an extra mile to act out the context in which Murife was being asked not to run.
As some recreated running the context by acting, others used past viral clips and blended in with the viral audio, like the one of president William Ruto running at the Wilson airport. The president was running to catch a flight to Kirigiti stadium on August 6 for his final rally since the deadline to end campaigns was fast approaching.

Other recreated Murife versions include; a man being chased by a group of armed police officers, a section of The gods must be crazy movie where characters were being chased by a lion among others.
Many have tried to find the original Murife video and most settled on the one of a man being chased by dogs.

It has however been established that the original version of Murife don’t run was recorded in Cape town, South Africa by Namibians who had gone for an adventure.
The video was shared on Facebook by one of the tourists and it shows Murife being chased by a curious monkey.
The monkey was first on top of their vehicle before it decided to ‘scare the hell out of’ Murife. Those present asked him not to run so that the monkey can stop chasing him. Below is the video.
