FKF sacks Harambee Stars coach Francis Kimanzi

Date:

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) made this announcement that it has parted ways with Francis Kimanzi, Harambee Stars coach with immediate effect.

In a statement FKF stated Kimanzi, 45  and his entire technical bench, consisting assistant coach Zedekiah Otieno and goalkeeping coach Lawrence Webo had left via mutual consent.

“The federation is grateful to Kimanzi for his dedication and professionalism, this as we wish them all the best in their endeavours,” said the federation in a statement.

The former Mathare United coach took over the mantle at Kenya’s national team last year, replacing Frenchman Sebastien Migne

Kimanzi was the assistant to Migne, and quit his post at Mathare United to fully concentrate on national team matters.

Kimanzi is not new to the Harambee Stars job. He was appointed full-time manager of the team on December 11, 2008, having held the post as a caretaker coach since May 2008.

He was sacked from the post after the 2008 Cecafa Cup in January 2009 due to disputes between him and Kenyan football administrators.
