Comedian Eric Omondi has said that he now fears for his life after receiving threats from unknown people following his decision to support Jimmi Wanjigi
According to Omondi, he has been threatened through social media as well as through night phone calls at ever since he started campaigning for the businessman through the ‘Fagia Wote’ slogan.
Omondi further said that those threatening him are now trailing him wherever he goes to through a video he posted on social media.
He revealed that those calling him try to modify their voices so as to conceal their identities.
“Inamaanisha imeuma watu sana inamaanisha inafanya kazi nikipata messages kwa simu yangu watu wakiniambia Kenya ikona wenyewe, kijana utajua nchi ikona wenyewe kijana wewe tutakuonyesha na tunakupatia 3 weeks ukisema sijui nini tutakuonyesha Kenya iko wenyewe,” said Omondi in the video.
The comedian however said that he was not going to stop campaigning for Wanjigi and that he was hopeful of bringing change to the country.
“Am not backing off, those calling me at night with unknown numbers , this means they are scared, some of them are in the government, they are trying to change their voices but if you listen keenly you will know who they are,” he said.
He however did not mention whether he had recorded a statement with the police or not.
Omondi caused a stir in social media after endorsing Wanjigi for president early this month.
Through a video, Omondi said it was time to “Fagia’ the likes of Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka among other renown politicians.
Wanjigi is seeking for the country’s top position through the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket.
Raila’s close ally feel that Wanjigi is a threat to Raila’s bid in becoming the country’s president.
Nairobi County women Representative Esther Passaris criticized Omondi for campaigning for Wanjigi yet he had nothing for Kenyans aside from just making them laugh.
“It is good that we respect our leaders and what they have done for us,” Passaris said.
