Comedian Eric Omondi has revealed the amount of money he spent on his dating show wife material season three.
Eric said that he spent Kshs 8 million on the show during an interview with Mpasho.
He paid his fellow comedian Butita a whooping Kshs 3.5 million to write the script for the show.
“I would spend even more coz I make more from that. Which Kenyan entertainer would spend that much? They don’t have money since they do not want to spend,” he said.
Speaking about the entertainment industry in Kenya, Eric said he does not recognize any creatives in the industry.
According to him, the entertainment industry is dead.
“I don’t recognize any of them, even artistes, they are boring and doing the same thing. The only person I respect in East Africa is Diamond and in Kenya currently is Terence Creative. The rest ni kulala and saying Kenyans don’t support their own. What are they supposed to support yet you are giving them dry content?” the comedian posed.
Wife material season 3 attracted participants from Kenya, South Sudan, Rwanda, Ethiopia and Nigeria.
The winner of the show was South Sudan’s Monica Ayen. Eric shared with his followers that he will be soon visiting the country to meet with Monica’s parents.
“I have achieved my goal which was to get a wife and I am now planning on my visit to South Sudan to meet Ayen’s parents,” he said on Instagram
The first season of the show ended with one of the Bandbeca emerging the winner.
The second season was however cancelled after some of the participants became rogue.
“Sadly, it seems #WifeMaterial2 was never meant to happen, but we can still say it happened in a way, actually twice. The show was to begin tomorrow as has been heavily advertised but unfortunately that won’t be so. The idea behind #WifeMaterial is to entertain but most importantly to ensure that the contestants are comfortable, safe and having the time of their lives while contesting,” wrote Eric.
