Eliud Kipchoge made headlines on Sunday when he broke his own record in the 2022 Berlin marathon by completing the race in 2hrs 01min 09 seconds on Sunday.
His wife Grace Sugutt who spoke with The Nation revealed that he had a conversation with him on the eve of the race whereby she gave him her blessings.
She further said with him before the race adding that in winning, he has further motivated his three children.
“We talked on the eve of the race and I wished him well and gave him my blessings because he wanted to go to bed early. He was calm and he just told me that he wanted to run a beautiful race. The kids are so happy. His victory has motivated them to work even harder in school,” she said.
Grace also revealed that she had been praying and fasting for a week for a miracle to happen in her husband’s race.
“I congratulate my husband for again making history by lowering his world record time. I was in a prayer mood for the last one week and I fasted for a miracle to happen. I’m happy that victory has come home,” Grace told The Nation.
Kipchoge won the Berlin Marathon by a 30 second gap in his previous record. Due to that he will be walking away with millions.
Sources reveal that Kipchoge will take home around Kshs3 million for winning the race, Ksh6.8 million for breaking the world record and Ksh4.1 million for the time bonus.
