Duale speaks after surviving Jubilee Party purge

Date:

Aden Duale, the National Assembly Majority Leader has warned perceived rebels that the purge in Jubilee Party is not yet over.

Speaking to journalists at State House after retaining his position as majority leader on Tuesday, June 2, he stated that after replacing the office of majority whip and his deputy, the party would restructure committee membership.

“In due course, we will do changes to some committees, mainly chairs and vice-chairs but I don’t want to let the cat out of the bag now because you have enough to report,” Duale said.

However, he let it slip that the new chairs and vice-chairs had already been selected and that the new National Assembly Majority Whip Navakholo MP Emmanuel Wangwe.

Wangwe will be deputised by Imenti North MP Maoka Maore who replaced nominated MP Cecily Mutitu Mbarire.

“By tomorrow you will hear through the normal parliamentary communication, which is a function of the whip of our coalition, working with my office and now we have a new parliamentary secretary, Kipipiri MP Amos Kimunya,” he disclosed.

Duale also hinted that the MPs had ratified the post-election coalition between Kanu and Jubilee, dropping references in his speech.

“Every member of the Jubilee Party and its coalition under the leadership of President Uhuru Kenyatta today, all 212 of them were at State House.

“We are all loyal and the party gives us the opportunity to serve and all 212 are equal to the task,” he explained.

Duale thanked the party for showing confidence in him for the third time, and was excited to serve for the remaining two years.

“It has been a good day. We had a very good conversation on how to support the president’s agenda for the remaining two years. I want to thank the President and the Parliamentary Group for showing confidence in my leadership.

“I am the first occupant of this constitutional seat. I did not feel threatened and I believe in God, destiny and commitment. I also believe there is nothing static in this world. I was first in this office but I believe there will come a time when I will leave,” Duale stated.
