Confusion has emerged over who was nominated as Cabinet Secretary in the ministry of Lands and physical planning.
This after two Kenyans, both associated with UDA, emerged thanking William Ruto for the appointment.
While announcing those he had nominated to his cabinet, President Ruto said that Zachary Mwangi Njeru was appointed in the ministry of Lands, without giving details of which Zachary was lucky to land the state job.
The first Zachary Mwangi Njeru is a businessman based in Nakuru and he was also congratulated by the county’s governor Susan Kihika.
“Congratulations Zachary Mwangi Njeru (Zack Njeru) on your appointment as Cabinet Secretary for Lands and Physical Planning. This is a win for Nakuru having a full Cabinet Secretary since independence. Thank you H.E. President Ruto for giving Nakuru County a full Cabinet Minister,” Kihika said on social media.
In his acceptance statement, the businessman listed some of the things that he will do as Lands CS while saying that he is a good example of a hustler noting was born in Bondeni ward.
“It is true there has been a problem with title deeds issuance (in Nakuru County) but once I take over the office, we shall know the stage that the matter has reached. I will take over from my predecessor and hasten to ensure every citizen gets justice.
“I as the CS of Lands, I know the task is not easy but I am confident working with God and you Nakuru people as well as the National Government, we shall make the Ministry thrive as it is supposed to,” he told the press
The second Zacharia Mwangi Njeru is an MCA in Nyandarua who was elected on a UDA ticket. He gladly accepted the role.
“My name is Zachary Mwangi Njeru, MCA for Nyakio and the Deputy Speaker of Nyandarua. I have received information that my good friend President William Ruto has nominated me as the CS for Lands.
“I would like to say that on the issue of bottom-up, I am equal to the task and will be able to serve the people of Kenya, including Nyandarua, which is one of the counties that have experience challenges in terms of land. I am awaiting official communication from Nairobi,” he said in a recording.
Following the confusion, Nyandarua residents have vowed not to let go of the opportunity even though the president is yet to issue a clarification on the matter. Netizens however believe that the businessman is the actual appointee.
