William Ruto came under criticisms after it was revealed that he is guarded by 257 police officers some of whom are guarding his chicken farm. Now DP allies claim Gideon Moi has more police officers guarding him than Ruto.
Interior CS Fred Matiang’i appeared before the National Assembly Committee on Administration and National Security on Wednesday September 1st to explain the alleged downgrading of Ruto’s security detail.
Matiang’i revealed that Ruto is guarded by 257 different officers which makes him the most protected Deputy President in the history of Kenya.
MPs poked fun at Ruto’s security detail after Matiangi’s submissions in parliament, they questioned why police have been dispatched to guard the DP’s chickens when ordinary Kenyans are grappling with runaway insecurity.
In his submission, Matiang’i revealed that four police officers are stationed at Ruto’s Koitalel poultry farm in Eldoret.
Ruto’s allies have since launched a damage control campaign aimed to salvage the DP’s reputation while at the same time taint his rivals.
They now claim that Baringo senator is the second most protected Kenyan after President Uhuru Kenyatta with 387 police officers dispatched to protect him and his properties.
“Turns out the most guarded Kenyan after President Uhuru @StateHouseKenya
is not his deputy @WilliamsRuto (257) or third ranking @SpeakerJBMuturi (11) or even
@CJMarthaKoome(9) but Senator @MoiGideon with a whooping 387 policemen for protection of self and property. Keep talking!” David Makali tweeted.
He added that;
“Gideon is followed by Uhuru’s brother Muhoho (88) Mama Ngina (71), @RailaOdinga
(64) and Matiangi (59). The Kenyattas in total have almost 3000 guards. Mudavadi and Kalonzo have 34 guards attached to each, among the special category of Kenyans accorded presidential or VIP security.”
