Deputy president William Ruto has accused President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga of betraying him.
Speaking while attending a church service at African Church of the Holy Spirit Dumbeni in Malava town, Kakamega County on Saturday, September 18, Ruto said that he campaigned for the two leaders as they sought for presidency only for them to turn against him.
According to Ruto, he was almost imprisoned for crimes against humanity after campaigning for Odinga in the 2007 general elections.
“I campaigned for Raila Odinga in 2007 to the point I was almost locked up in Hague. I helped my friend Uhuru Kenyatta become President in the 2013 and 2017 general elections. All these happened in broad daylight,” Ruto told the crowd.
He said that he supported President Kenyatta to win the two general elections only for him to enter into an agreement with Odinga.
“Now, they have teamed up to lock me out of the presidency, claiming my father was a nobody in Kenya. Even the kid of a single mother can become President in this country. Let them go away,” Ruto said.
Ruto was accompanied by senator Boni Khalwale, Kimilili member of parliament Didmus Barasa, Sirisia MP John Waluke, Mumias East member of parliament Benjamin Washiali and other leaders from different parts of the country.
He donated a car to the African Church of the Holy Spirit Dumbeni Bishop Shem Shamala.
“When the church’s top leadership visited me, they told me that their bishop moves around on a boda boda, yet he is a very high-ranking person in the society. So I told them that I would buy them a bishop’s car in his gospel ministry. So I have today come here with that car so that our bishop can use it,” Ruto said.
