Since the attack on Raila Odinga’s chopper in Uasin Gishu’s Kabenes area, Kenyans have raised the past attack on William Ruto’s convoy sometimes back in Kondele, Kisumu county.
These Kenyans have even wondered why the Raila’s chopper attack has been treated with more seriousness unlike that of the Kondele attack, which according to them they believe it was not investigated.
Well, these Kenyans have even blamed the National Police service for being biased over the two incidences.
However, it is not true that the national police service did nothing about the Kondele attack which saw some youths attack the deputy president in a political rally.
The investigation carried out by the same police officers established that the Kondele attack was not organized and financed like the one which happened to Raila at Kabenes.
According to the police, the Kondele attack was due to disagreements amongst the youths over money that was promised to them by William Ruto’s campaign team. It emerged that the money was only given to a section of youths, leaving the others who were not given very bitter.
As a result, the police through their investigation concluded that money was at the center of the Kondele melee as youths openly registered their dissatisfaction to the deputy president by pelting stones at him.
The police even revealed that they had prior intelligence that money disagreement would cause chaos in Kondele hence they warned the DP not to visit the area but he ignored their intelligence.
Months later after investigation Ruto’s predicament in Kisumu, the same police officers immediately went on an investigation spree after Raila Odinga’s chopper was pelted with stone at Kabenes.
They came to the conclusion that the attack on Raila Odinga’s chopper was as a result of a well organized scheme by certain politicians from the Riftvalley region. The DCI even went ahead to name the politicians involved in planning and coordinating the whole thing namely speaker of Uasin Gishu County Assembly David Kiplagat, Soi Constituency member of parliament Caleb Kositany and Kapseret Constituency member of parliament Oscar Sudi
Therefore, it is a big lie that police officers ignored the Kondele issue and only focused on the Kabenes issue. The reality of the matter going by the police reports is that our competent National Police Service carried out investigations and came to the conclusion that one attack (for Ruto) was due to money disagreements in Kondele while for Raila was due to plans by the local leaders in the region.
Even from his reaction, Raila Odinga distanced himself from the Kondele attack by stating that he was not a child to pay youths to attack the deputy president.

On the other hand, Ruto on Saturday admitted the guilt and apologized to the opposition leader following what happened to him at kabenes after his key allies such as Oscar Sudi and Kaleb Kositany were named in the matter by the DCI.
In a nutshell, the police through their directorate of criminal investigations did their part in both instances, hence blaming them for not investigating one is not only misleading but also untrue.
For those doubting that the police did nothing on the Kondele issue, below is the evidence of their full statement following an investigation:
