It has now emerged that president William Samoei Ruto gave Wiper leader Steven Kalonzo Musyoka a job offer.
Sources reveal that Ruto was keen on having Kalonzo on his side after winning but the Wiper leader was not just cooperating as expected.
At some point, it is alleged that the post given to former Machakos governor Alfred Mutua was to be given to Mr. Musyoka given his vast experience in foreign matters.
According to Kalonzo’s close ally Dan Manzo who spoke to Citizen TV on Monday, his boss was offered but issues of integrity could not allow him join Ruto’s government. Maanzo argued that those appointed by the president have integrity issues, hence the Wiper boss could not be part and parcel of such an equation.
On his side, president Ruto while speaking in Kitui opened up that he looked for Kalonzo both before and after winning but the man was playing too hard to get.
These words were reiterated by Ruto’s deputy Mr. Rigathi Gachagua. Rigathi stated that Kalonzo was given some good offers but he was surprised to see him join the opposition.
Gachagua made reference to the Sunday event where Mr. Musyoka joined other Luo leaders to attend a church service in Kisumu.
The Wiper leader while speaking in Kisumu took a swipe at the Kenya Kwanza administration for compromising the church, the parliament and the judiciary.
The leaders also revealed that life will be difficult going forward because the current government does not believe in subsidising basic commodities like unga and fuel to help the poor.
In the meantime, Ruto’s event in Ukambani was attended by Kitui governor Julius Malombe, Machakos governor Wavinya Ndeti and former governor Alfred Mutua.
Wavinya assured the president that they would work with his government and support it to the end.
