As investigations into the extra-judicial killings by the disbanded DCI Special Service Unit(SSU) continue, the blood-stained container believed to have been used by the team to torture victims was transferred from the Nairobi Area Police Station in Milimani, to DCI headquarters in Kiambu Road for forensic analysis.
According to detectives who did not want to be named, victims underwent torture and suffering in the container for days before they were killed in it.
Their bodies would then be transferred from the scene of crime and dumped away from the city county. The SSU team would allegedly kill the victims after obtaining information from them.
“This is a horror scene, a dark story scripted by those who are supposed to provide light,” a detective said.
Investigations by the Internal Affairs Unit seeking to uncover more the ills of SSU is banking on three cases which include the abduction of Dennis Itumbi in December last year, the missing two Indian nationals who were working for President William Ruto and their driver as well as the case of John Obunde who was arrested in Kawangware.
The Indian IT experts, Zaid Sami Kidwai and Zulfiqar Khan, were abducted just weeks to the general elections.
Investigations identified 12 officers who were part of SSU. Three of them shared details of the abduction of the foreigners alongside their driver and their brutal murder in the deadly container before their bodies were dumped at the Aberdares forest.
The police discovered bones and items believed to belong to the them at the forest and more of them are camping at the site in a bid to uncover more exhibits.
