The Directorate of Criminal Investigations boss George Kinoti awed Kenyans on Monday October 18 after appearing on a local TV drama.
Kinoti played a role in Citizen TV’ Inspector Mwala that airs on Mondays at 6.30pm. He showcased his hidden talent in the show about crime and justice.
On the Monday’s show, Kinoti played his real life role where visited Kona Mbaya police station after Mwala’s attempts to surprise him at the DCI offices failed.
According to the script, Kinoti decides to use some undercover tactics to determine how the police officers at the station serve citizens.
However, a policeman on duty, Abdi, disrespects him without knowing who he was.
Mwala is forced to apologize to Kinoti over Abdi’s behavior while asking him to respect the boss.
Speaking to the officers at the station, Kinoti tells them to avoid being involved with corruption and harassing civilians while on duty as he emphasized on service delivery.
The team then goes ahead to award Kinoti a trophy for his exemplary services.
The show started airing on Citizen TV over a decade ago after Mwala quit Vitimbi which was airing at KBC.
Mwala made his debut in the acting industry through Vitimbi where he played the role ‘Mwala’.
In April this year, there were rumors that the show might be banned because the cast dress in props and gears resembling those of the police.
“Citizen TV. Popular Local drama series INSPECTOR MWALA to end soon. No one should act with police uniform, police vehicle and anything resembling a gun,” a social media post said.
The post was published days after Purity Mwambia’s expose on how police officers rent their guns and uniforms to criminals.
The rumors were however proved to be false since they originated from an imposter account of the Kenya Police Service.
