Cristiano Ronaldo is the most followed personality on the three mainstream social media platforms – Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. And he only follows one Kenyan alone.
Ronaldo’s combined social media following on the three platforms – Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, is more than 570 million.
The Portuguese football star has 330 million followers on Instagram, 147 million likes on his Facebook page and 93 million Twitter followers.
Ronaldo is the most followed person on Instagram and he is also the highest paid on that social media platform.
The football king earns an estimated $1.6 million/Ksh.175 million per sponsored post on Instagram, the 36-year-old is estimated to make more than $40 million/Ksh.4.3 billion annually from Instagram more than his salary as a player at the Italian Serie A club Juventus.
Ronaldo’s pay-per-post fee has rocketed along with his popularity which has soared during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Even though Ronaldo has 330 million followers on Instagram, the Portuguese football star only follows 475 people on the platform.
Of the 475 people that Ronaldo follows on Instagram, only one is a Kenyan. The football legend follows marathon legend Eliud Kipchoge.
Kipchoge is the greatest marathon runner of all time, boasting of two Olympic gold medals and has won several marathons in cities across the world.
During an unmatched marathon career, Eliud has claimed victory in 11 out of 12 marathons, racking up an unprecedented nine successive victories over the 42.2km distance.
Kipchoge proved no human is limited when he became the first human in history to run a sub-two-hour marathon in the city of Vienna, Austria on 12th October 2019.
The marathon king ran the 42.195KM distance in a remarkable time of 1:59:40:2, even though the record was not recognized by World Athletics due to rotating pacemakers, delivery of hydration by bicycle, and the lack of open competition.
