If you thought you loved free things, then you would be nowhere near Kenyans who happened to be around Carrefour supermarkets on Thursday.
The announcement of an offer in the cooking oil not only brought to a standstill the activities at the supermarkets but also made people literally fight.
From a video that has so far gone viral, some Kenyans struggled to carry and run with more than ten bottles of cooking oils only for them to end up falling on the floors.
According to sources familiar with the incident, Carrefour supermarket reduced the price of 5 litres of cooking oil by almost half.
Following the oil heist at the Carrefour supermarket, Kenyans expressed mixed reactions as captured below:
“It’s unfortunate that Kenyans still believe in this issue of contaminated cooking fat, this govt of yours are just cartels. In business there is no contaminated cooking fat, it’s just a deal gone bad at the Port.”
“Poor management skills, they would have limited the quantity per customer to 2 or 3, to minimize all this.”
“Killed farm who produced crop lke sunflower, and high price of butter which far healthy than those liquid oil people are rushing to buy, how many house hold can afford to buy olive oil other than the church and the wealth. I will never forget mum planted some sunflower but ended up a animal feeds.”
