William Ruto has now stated that BBI proponents misled the public but nevertheless he supported some of the proposals in the document.
Ruto took a dig at Uhuru and Raila while speaking at his Karen home on Thursday when he met with spiritual leaders from various churches and mosques from Makueni County.
The DP supported some proposals in BBI like additional resources to the devolved units of government and formation of new constituencies.
Ruto however stressed that those proposals contained in the BBI document can be implemented without Constitutional amendments.
“Counties can still be given more funds through Parliament without the conmanship in the BBI,” Ruto said.
“If Kenyans were in need of more constituencies, then the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission would have been engaged,” he added.

Ruto however noted that he was strongly opposed to BBI proposal on the creation of what he termed as an imperial president.
According to the DP, BBI proposal to alter the executive made the document ‘dangerous’ for him because he said it goes against democratic ideals.
Ruto said pushing for constitutional amendments through BBI was “the biggest fraud and the most dangerous assignment” ever pursued in Kenya.
At the same time, the DP also asserted that proponents of the BBI must apologize to Kenyans for sabotaging the Big Four agenda.
“It (Big Four agenda) would have created millions of jobs opportunities besides ensuring that all Kenyans have access to affordable medical care. But all these gains went down the drain because of the BBI,” said Ruto.
