Comedian Shaniqwa Narrates How His Marriage To Jemutai Ended

Date:

Kevin Mwangi or better known as Shaniqwa has opened up on how his marriage to Naomi Jemutai alias Mkale Msungu ended.

Speaking to Jeff Kuria show on Sunday, Shaniqwa revealed that the trouble in his marriage began a few days after he was fired from KTN’s Life and Style Show.

He struggled to make ends meet through securing contracts but that did not provide a lasting solution.

“At the time after I was fired, my life was in shambles due to hard economic times as I couldn’t afford to pay rent and provide day-to-day basic needs for my wife and small child, Kevatin Khangi, ” he stated.

According to Shaniqwa, agents began auctioning some of his items due to rent arrears.

He would often argue with his wife until one day she packed her bags and left for Ruiru to live with her new man together with their son.

“My wife would leave me and go out with another man. We had no money for food but I found she had KSh 8,000 in her M-Pesa,” he said.

The comedian was co-hosting the weekly show on Fridays and was fired so as to cut budgets.

“I didn’t even want people to know I was fired but yes, I lost the job and lost hope,” he said.

Shaniqwa fell into depression and resolved to drink alcohol.

“We would get into fights and one day she decided to pack her bags and leave. She wasn’t there for me and my child. So this predicament made me fall into depression and I started drinking,” he stated.

One day he passed out  while in the house as he had not put something in his mouth for a number of days. Luckily, some of his friends came to his rescue.

“One day I woke up and sent a message to Jalang’o in the morning. After his breakfast show, he called me and asked me, ‘My bro are you okay? I gave him my story, I had not paid my rent for seven months. Jalang’o asked me what I wanted him to help me, I asked him to pay my rent. He asked me for the landlord’s number. He cleared the rent and paid two more months. I started looking for Desagu and shot him. I started feeling the love from my fans. I started putting content on YouTube,” Shanqwa narrated.

Things started working out for him and his baby mama requested to come back. She however left again after two days. Currently, Shaniqwa is raising his son alone

Shaniqwa became a household name 10 years ago after he landed a role in a comedy show dubbed Jameni which required him to cross-dress.
