Chania Boys headteacher, Mr. Macharia has passed away after collapsing unexpectedly on Friday, July 24, during an ongoing meeting at the school.
“I was called from my house by the bursar, I found the deceased inside his car. I drove him to Thika hospital where he was pronounced dead,” Simon Wahome, the deputy principal of the school stated.
Thika Sub-County police boss Beatrice Kiraguri confirmed that Macharia died shortly after complaining of breathing difficulties.
Simon Wahome disclosed that the late Chania Boys headteacher arrived at school at around 8:30 am and thereafter held a two-hour-long meeting with the board members and contractor of the new dormitory about the construction of the same.

Thika High School Principal and the Thika West Heads Association chairman Julius Muraya indicated that the late principal had been hospitalized at the Aga Khan Hospital three years ago when he suffered a heart attack and had been on medication.
“The deceased was not only a colleague but a close family friend, I am deeply saddened by his death,” Julius Muraya said.
He added that the deceased previously served in the same position at Kirogo Boys in Murang’a County but had been transferred in order to manage his health.
