A woman by the name Merry Nkatha has now claimed that she fears for her life in the midst of the ongoing war between former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko.
Merry Nkatha revealed that Sonko and his people are planning to harm her for refusing to cooperate with them. As a result, she reported the issue to the Karen police station citing fear for her life.
According to her, Mike Sonko has been pushing her to accept to be a key witness in two cases against Justice Chitembwe and Nairobi governor Ann Kananu.
“They have been calling and threatening me since and I can’t have peace. I feel in danger and that is why I have reported the matter to the police,” she said.
While making the statement at a Karen hotel in the presence of many police officers, Merry Nkatha disclosed how she was blocked and kidnapped on Saturday, November 20th by unknown people who called Sonko in her presence.
It is at that point that Mike Sonko recorded her after she was given a chocolate to eat in a bid to relax. The recorded audio clip has so far gone viral in the social media.
Mike Sonko shared an audio through his many social media platforms in which Nkatha is heard responding to questions and accusing Ann Kananu and other individuals.
“He wanted me to be his witness and when I refused he started to blackmail me saying he wanted money from Kananu. I had by then reported the matter to the police,” she said.
Feeling desperate, Sonko threatened to share the audio to the public if his demands were not met. Apparently, he wanted 20 million Kenya shillings from governor Kananu so that he does not share the audio clips.
According to Nkatha as reported by Mpasho News, she has known Sonko for almost two years. She said she is a former banker and currently she is a strategist
She described Sonko as a jinxed man who is out for revenge. Lang’ata police boss Benjamin Mwanthi said they are investigating the claims of kidnapping and that the complainant will get state protection.
“A matter was reported and officers are investigating the claims on the same,” he said. Sonko has been on a mission to release videos and audios implicating high court judges and governor Kananu of engaging in corrupt and sexual practices.
