Brigadier Swaleh Nzaro Said has beenĀ buried at his farm in Kikambala, Kilifi county Friday April 19, at around 6pm.
Brig Said was among senior military officers who perished in a chopper crash at Kaben, To subcounty in Marakwet East Thursday afternoon.
He was given a 13-gun salute.
“Today, we laid to rest a friend, brother and an honorable man who served his country whole heatedly. Brigadier General Said Nzaro Swaleh will forever remain in the hearts of the people of Kilifi as a distinguished member of our community and an enduring source of inspiration through his remarkable life. He leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire us all. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, and the entire Kenya Defence Forces family. Rest in Peace,” Kilifi Governor Gideon Mung’aro stated.
Said’s body arrived in Mombasa mid-morning and was taken to his mother’s home in Majaoni, Kisauni subcounty for preparation.
Earlier, the family had planned to inter his remains at the mother’s home in Majaoni but it later emerged that he had wished to be buried at the farm he bought in Kikambala, Kilifi County.
High ranking retired and serving military officers were present during the burial at his Majaoni home where prayers were conducted.
The late Chief of Defence Forces Francis Ogolla’s will be buried on Sunday, April 21 per his wish.
