Renown human rights activist Boniface Mwangi has been sentenced to jail for two months by Machakos Law Court.
Mwangi was handed the sentence after being found guilty of contempt of court, by continually blaming former Machakos governor of bombing his house.
He was however given an alternative of Kshs300, 000.
“I have been found guilty of contempt of court. Sentenced to two months in prison or pay a fine of Ksh 300,000. The gag order was extended to January 2024. l can no longer post who bombed our home. Water is wet, the pope is Catholic, and everyone knows who bombed our home,” he shared on X.
Earlier, Mwangi had vowed to never stop posting about who was responsible for the bombing of his house that was under construction back in 2021.
“Why too serious? Here wondering why @DCI_Kenya@NPSOfficial_KEhave never arrested@DrAlfredMutuafor bombing my house. I provided DCI with evidence, names of the suspects, phone numbers etc. l shall never stop saying that. No court order will ever stop me from saying that,” Mwangi declared.

Among those who accompanied him for the sentencing are Haki Director Hussein Khalid, his lawyer Martha Karua, former Chief Justice Willy Mutunga, his wife and nephew.
Mwangi has since opted to pay the fine.
I couldn’t resist taking a pic of Njeri, and my nephew as they listened to the court proceedings. Njeri was visibly worried. pic.twitter.com/MQDTctNnJU
