The US President Donald Trump has dealt a huge blow after losing his younger brother Robert Trump just a few months to the next general elections.
“It is with [a] heavy heart I share that my wonderful brother, Robert, peacefully passed away tonight,” Trump said in a statement on Saturday.
The death of Robert Trump comes a few days after the President had visited him in hospital in New York.
Regarding his condition in the hospital after the visit told reporters that “He’s having a hard time.”
Until now it is still unclear what caused the death of the President’s brother.
However, some US media reports suggested that he had been seriously ill.
“He was not just my brother, he was my best friend,” Donald Trump said adding, “His memory will live on in my heart forever.”
Trump’s son Eric eulogized his uncle as an “incredible man – strong, kind and loyal to the core”.
“He will be deeply missed by our entire family,” Eric wrote on Twitter.
Robert was the youngest of Fred and Mary Anne Trump’s children and was born two years after his brother Donald.
The eldest of the children Fred Jr died back in 1981.
The late Robert Trump spent much of his career taking care of the family real-estate firm and becoming its top executive. Unlike Donald, Robert is said not to court publicity and lived semi-retired in New York state.
In his 1987 book The Art of the Deal, Donald Trump described his brother as one ” gets along with almost everyone, which is great for me since I sometimes have to be the bad guy”.
Robert recently went to court in a failed attempt to stop his niece Mary Trump’s tell-all book about Donald Trump, How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man.

The late divorced his first wife Blaine over a decade ago and married Ann Marie in March 2020.
Reports by the Post say Robert spent more than a week in the intensive-care unit at Manhattan’s Mount Sinai Hospital in June.
Quoting a family friend, the New York Times said he had experienced brain bleeds that had begun after a recent fall.
