Betty Kyallo lands new gig after firing from K24

Betty Kyallo revealed that she would be hosting a virtual concert We Are One Africa on June 5, 2020 – an event held in partnership with NRG Radio.

Taking to her Instagram, the media personality expressed her excitement about her new responsibility.

“It’s about to go down when I’m in charge of the microphone! See you tomorrow night at 10 p.m. as I host the biggest virtual concert in Africa, We Are One Africa Concert. I am excited and looking forward to seeing you on YouTube and Instagram,” she posted.

The event which will be live-streamed in various African countries is being hosted by NRG radio studios in partnership with ARMEF Health Africa and Choice FM.

Speaking to a local news site, NRG Radio’s Director of Strategy and Director of Communications Beverly Wangari revealed that Betty would be one of two hosts of the two-hour event.

“Betty will be hosting the event this week with another colleague, and we shall have a line up of African artistes performing as well,” she revealed.

Among those expected to perform are Nyashinki, Tanasha Donna, Gilad, Arrow Bwoy, Alternate Sound, Lulu Diva, Bebe Cool and Chameleone from Uganda, Joe Boy from Nigeria.

Wangari revealed that there would be giveaways during the show for the fans who will tune in.

“We pay rent for some of our audience owing to the fact that these are hard times. We have giveaways like phones and gas cylinders which come in handy during these difficult times.

“The goal of the virtual concert is to raise money for Amref’s Covid-19 Crisis Response fund while keeping Africa entertained and raising awareness on Covid-19 prevention measures,” she detailed.

Virtual concerts have become a welcome innovation in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic as festivals, performances, and concerts have been cancelled due to social distancing measures.

The One World: Together At Home, a concert organised by Grammy and Oscar-winning superstar Lady Gaga and featured a number of inten=rnational stars perform raised Ksh 12.7 Billion towards WHO’s Solidarity Response Fund that takes care of health workers.
