Baringo Man In Custody For Killing His Brother Over Beehive Inheritance

An 18-year old man was arrested by the police over allegations of killing his elder brother after disagreeing about an inheritance.

Alex Kalemaa Kiptoo is said to have killed his 43-year old brother Joseph Kipsingor kiptoi, by shooting him with an arrow after the two failed to agree over a beehive inheritance that was left for them by their father.

Alex accused his brother of taking the lion’s share by taking over 40 beehives.

“Angered by his elder brother whom he accused of denying him his rightful share of his inheritance, Alex shot him with an arrow on his right thigh, leaving him to bleed to death,” read a report by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.

The suspect was is currently being held at Mogotio police station.

“Detectives based at Mogotio police station processed the scene, recovered crucial exhibits and arrested the suspect who is currently a guest of the state. Meanwhile the body of the deceased is lying at a morgue in Eldama Ravine town,” detectives said.

Elsewhere, a suspected motorbike thief escaped death by a whisker after being rescued by police officers from Kamulu police station from an irate mob.

The suspect is said to have approached a boda boda rider for his services on Wednesday at 8 pm before jumping on his motorbike, kick starting and speeding off.

Morris Simiyu raised alarm alerting his fellow boda boda riders who went after the suspect  chasing him for about 14km.

“About 300 metres to Kamulu Police post, the thug who could no longer keep up with the pace of the fast approaching opponents screeched to a halt and jumped from the bike, opting to run towards the police station. But before he could get there, the irate riders caught up with him and gave him a dog’s beating, leaving him to contend with a swollen face and fractured limbs for his crime,” DCI said.

Police officers from the station intervened and whisked the suspect to safety. He was rushed to a hospital for treatment before charges are pressed against him.
