Bahati Cries Foul After Being Ordered To Step Down From Mathare Parliamentary Seat Race

Singer Bahati has revealed that he has been asked to step down from the Mathare Parliamentary seat race.

Addressing the press, a tearful Bahati explained that he has asked to step down from the race because Mathare is zoned as an ODM area.

This comes just days after the Bahati was handed a nomination certificate to vie for the seat as the official candidate for Jubilee and Azimio la Umoja in the August 9 elections.

“I respect my president, I respect honorable Raila Odinga but please give the youth of this country a chance. I know there is zoning and Mathare has been zoned as an ODM area but for this one time, give the youth of this country a chance. Give the people of Mathare a chance to get the leader they have always wanted,” Bahati said as he showed  his nomination certificate.

Bahati added that he was joining politics because he wanted to address the challenges that the people of Mathre are facing.

“I did not come to politics because I wanted a job because I already had one. These people of Mathare want someone that can understand their problems. Someone that comes from them,” Bahati said.

Bahati was handed the nomination certificate on Friday evening after beating other candidates to emerge the most popular candidate in Mathare.

“Secondly; I want to Personally Thank my Party Leader H.E The President Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta for Giving me an Opportunity to Vie on a Jubilee Ticket and Baba The 5th H.E Raila Amolo Odinga for believing in me as the Official Azimio Candidate for Mathare MP!!!” part of Bahati’s message after receiving the certificate read.

The Mathare MP seat is currently being held by Anthony Oluoch of ODM who is seeking to defend it in the coming general elections.
