President Uhuru Kenyatta led the Azimio One Kenya Alliance Council meeting that was held at the Kenyatta International Convention Center on Thursday.
This comes at a time when wrangles and cracks are being witnessed in the coalition especially in the nomination of candidates in particular areas as well as the question of who will be Raila’s runningmate continues to be raised.
Those who were present for the meeting include ODM leader Raila Odinga, Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua, Kalonzo Musyoka, Charity Ngilu, DAP-K leader Wafula Wamunyinyi, Sabina Chege, Hassan Joho among other leadersÂ
In a brief statement that was read by Suna East MP Junet Mohammed, the council came up with some resolutions that will ensure that the coalition is successful as the country gears towards the next general elections.
Junet revealed that the National Coalition Executive Committee was tasked with selecting suitable individuals to different organs of the coalition, that is only meant to aide the smooth operations of the coalition.
“The council further mandated the National Coalition Executive Committee to immediately recommend suitable qualified individuals to be appointed to the following party organs: coalition election board, coalition elections appeal board, national disciplinary committee and dispute resolution panel,” read the statement.
Aside from that the council also resolved to appoint an advisory panel to recommend to the presidential candidate a suitable candidate for nomination as the Deputy Presidential candidate.
The Council directed the national coalition executive committee to immediately prepare a campaign strategy and plan that will ensure Azimio la Umoja- One Kenya presidential candidate, Raila Amollo Odinga, wins the 2022 presidential elections.
The strategy and plan are expected to ensure that Azimio forms the next government by winning a majority of seats both in the National Assembly and County Assemblies.
“The plan will ensure that Azimio La Umoja-Oka forms the next government, the azimio la umoja-OKA forms the majority in parliament and all the 47 counties of our beloved Republic of Kenya,” Junet said.
