A nominated Nairobi MCA caused drama in the County’s Assembly during the ongoing swearing in ceremony of Members of the Assembly.
Joyce Jamosa Lugonzo, who was nominated on an ODM ticket and allegedly hails from Mathare constituency, deviated from the normal oath and first swore to be loyal to her party leader who happens to be Raila Odinga.
“I Joyce Jamosa Lugonzo do swear in the name of the almighty God that I will always be loyal to my party leader,” the MCA began off her oath.
Her move sparked reactions among the members who were present with some cheering and clapping for her.
The county clerk however directed her to take her oath afresh and she strictly adhered to what was required in the second round.
“I Joyce Jamosa Lugonzo do swear in the name of the almighty God that I shall always truly and diligently serve the people and the Republic of Kenya in the office of Member of County Assembly of Nairobi City That I shall diligently discharge my duties and perform my functions in the said office to the best of my judgment. That I shall, at all times, respect, uphold, preserve, protect and defend the constitution of Kenya. That I shall do right to all manner persons in accordance to the constitution of Kenya  .So help me God!” Lamosa said.

The Nairobi MCAs are being sworn in under tight security over fear of chaos that may erupt during the election of the speaker.
Only two candidates, Kennedy Ng’ondi and Hassan Rabow, will be battling for the speaker’s post. This is after 7 other candidates, including immediate former speaker Benson Mutura, were disqualified for failing to meet the requirements.
Mutura also had the support of Kenya Kwanza.
