Embattled Machakos governor doctor Alfred Mutua has taken a swipe at the former Gichugu member of parliament Martha Karua.
Alfred Mutua while speaking during Kenya Kwanza’s economic forum in Nakuru described Martha as an atheist who does not believe in the existence of God. At the same time, the machakos governor revealed that he was happy with the appointment of Mathira member of parliament Rigathi Gachagua because he is someone who goes to church many times.
“You know God loves us. Personally i have looked at this our runningmate Rigathi Gachagua. He is a Christian, i have seen him severally go to church with his wife to pray. On the other hand, they have appointed a deputy president that we know as an atheist. She doesn’t believe there is God yet we are a Christian nation.!” Ranted Mutua.
The governor continued: ” We are Christin nation and our women kneel down every evening before God to pray. Let me ask you, will you accept to be led by someone who does not go to church, someone who does not believe in God? I am not a preacher but do not be bound by unbelievers.”
However, the sentiments by Alfred Mutua about Martha Karua did not go well with a number of Kenyans accusing the governor of demonizing Karua with petty and unnecessary accusations.
Kenyans had the following to tell Mutua:
“Which offense has she committed? Isn’t it her freedom of conscience?don’t mix matters spiritual and politics, furthermore, not all that calls him lord lord shall enter the kingdom,but only those who do what the almighty father above wants.”
“Looks like, if you are not in Kenya kwanza, you don’t know God. Seems to me God lives in some certain village that only Kenya kwanza know and everytime they go to worship him, they don’t see those they keep accusing as not knowing God. Like it is a requirement that, once you join Kenya kwanza, you aren’t allowed to walk around with your brain rather thy instill something in you so you become immune to common sense. It won’t supprise me if mutua starts twerking at this rate.”
“NOOO!!!!! Had a lot of respect for u until 2day! How come such smart minds turn into bile after joining uda? Very sad.WE ARE LOOKING FOR POLITICAL LEADERSHIP NOT RELIGIOUS. SAD.”
“Kwani is it about religion or politics?when did mutua attend church the last time apart from kuenda kufanya siasa?shida ya christianity ni hypocrisy.holier than thou!”
“I get pissed of with how religion is used by politicians in this country as a tool of controlling the masses. They Pearch on their high horses and label others as atheists, waganga, demons, etcetera knowing too well, that they are lying…and the sad bit is they do it without batting an eyelid. And because of that, many who believe them, settle for bad leaders in the name of prayerfulness. Have some dignity, for crying out loud. Sell your policies without slandering others.”
“A man who fights a woman is an enemy of the society.I thought mature politics na kuuza sera kwa mwanainchi was supposed to be the reason for campaigns.”
