Ali Kiba and his wife Amina Khalef join the long list of celebrity couples whose marriages have hit the rock bottom.
Amina decided to end the three year marriage by filing a divorce petition in Mombasa Kadhis court citing stress and neglect from Alikiba’s side.
The mother of two accused the Bongo star of not being consistent in providing for her needs and those of their children.
She also says that he neither cleared the hospital bill nor provided her with prenatal care after the birth of their first child.
Aside from that, she claims to have encountered verbal abuse from Ali Kiba’s relatives which began 6 months after their marriage.
In her affidavit, Amina is demanding Kshs 200,000 monthly upkeep for their children and as well as medical cover.
Amina and Ali Kiba got married in April 2018 in a traditional ceremony in Mombasa and later had a white wedding in Dar es salaam, Tanzania.
They welcomed their first child in February 2019 and the second one was born in May last year.
Their marriage has not been a smooth one and the wrangles have seen Amina return to her home in Mombasa from time to time while accusing Ali Kiba of infidelity.
The couple’s divorce news comes just days after Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho’s first wife Madina Giovanni Fazzini filed for a divorce after 9 years of being separated.
Joho and Madina got married in 2011 and separated in 2013, with Joho walking out of their matrimonial home.
In her affidavit, Madina says their marriage had close to zero chances of being revived after being apart for too long and both parties had moved on.
“I am clear and unequivocal that our marriage has broken down irretrievably with no chance of revival, given we have both moved on over the years,”part of the court document dated January 26, reads.
The two however have two children aged 8 and 9 but it is alleged that Joho never contributes to their upkeep.
Joho however agreed to grant his wife her wishes by agreeing to the termination of their marriage.
The governor showed up in court to respond to the divorce case and did not object to the petition.
