Adidas AG is ending its collaboration with rapper Kanye west known as Ye as a result of a slew of disrespectful actions by the rapper and fashion designer that turned the once-vibrant shoe company into a target for criticism.
Following confirmation of an earlier story by Bloomberg News, the German shoe company has come to a final decision of cutting ties with the celebrity comes fashion designer.
The rapper has distanced himself from his corporate partners after making contentious claims, such as anti-Semitic social media posts in recent weeks.Ye has sparked a lot of internet debate by donning a “White Lives Matter” shirt to the Paris Fashion Week. After that he made repeated anti-Semitic comments, he eventually had his Twitter and Instagram accounts closed. As a result of his words, a significant response from customers and celebrities has been sparked, with some asking for a boycott of Adidas products until the agreement is terminated.
Kanye West who happened to be burning bridges in the music industry was also terminated from performing at last years springs Grammy Awards following an erratic behavior and misconducts and this year has not been better has he continues to burn bridges in his other talent, of fashion design.
The weekend saw the reemergence on Twitter of video from an early October interview in which Ye boasted, “I can say antisemitic stuff and Adidas can’t drop me. Not only was his boasting over the deal that cant be dropped caused an uproar but he further went ahead to spread false information on the death of a black man, George Floyd who happen to loose his life while in police custody.
The singers outburst have seen him get drooped not only in fashion gigs but also video documentaries and podcasts.
Adidas has had severed ties with the fashion designer, joining Kerings SA’s Balenciaga design house and Gap Inc. in doing so.
