The COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli together with Suna East MP, Junet Mohamed claimed that Deputy President, William Ruto was part of the so-called “Deep State”.
“We are the people, if he talks about God we also pray, he is not the only person who prays, God is for us all.” noted Atwoli, going on to add,
“The best thing the DP need to do is to resign if he does know the difference between himself and the deep state. In 2013 when he went to Hague. The then-president Mwai Kibaki asked his Attorney General (Githu Muigai) to represent him at the International Criminal Court (ICC),”
Francis Atwoli and Junet Mohammed fired back at the DP after the latter he urged Kenyans to stay firm against intimidation and threats from the ‘deep state and the system’.
Atwoli who believes Ruto is a daydreamer who would never be the President of Kenya claimed that the Deputy President lacked integrity and could never be trusted with the government.
“You cannot be benefiting from the ‘deep state’ until you become a Deputy President and you disown it when you think it is not useful to you,” Junet said.
Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka also shared Atwoli’s sentiments and calls for William Ruto’s resignation.
“There are a lot of interest groups and some of them have to enable capacities. It is, however, wrong for William Ruto to challenge his boss in the manner which he has done.
“If I was him, I would have done the honorable thing, which is to resign,” noted Kalonzo.
During a meeting with community leaders from Kajiado South constituency on Tuesday, August 11, Ruto stated that he would not be intimidated by the ‘deep state’ who he stated claimed to have the power to fix the outcome of the 2022 General Elections.
