DP William Ruto defies President Uhuru Kenyatta in a big way

Date:

The Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya, William Samoei Ruto has openly defied President Uhuru Kenyatta’s direct directive and he somewhat has support from the Ministry of Health.

William Ruto has opposed President Kenyatta’s plans of opening up schools speaking during a virtual meeting with Uhuru Kenyatta. Ruto is totally against the directive because of the pandemic Coronavirus, COVID-19.

“We have to fashion ourselves towards the new normal until we have a vaccine.” Ruto said, “It is too risky to open schools and risk the lives of young Kenyans. Let us look at the possibility of candidates only who number about 1.5 million and open up for them to write exams,”

Education CS, George Magoha is against the reopening of schools at the moment because of the exponential spread of Coronavirus.

Magoha who iterated that he had already prepared through his Ministry for schools to resume officially in September stressed it will be near impossible to enforce the recommended social distance in slightly over 40,000 schools that have a population of 14 million students across the country.

“I will advise not to open schools when the infections from the disease are rising. We propose that school clusters be attached to a health facility before we can open,” Magoha stated.
