Kenya has finally walked over Djibouti to clinch the 2021/2022 seat the United Nations Security Council(UNSC) on Thursday 18, 2020.
On the second round of voting that was held at the UN headquarters in New York, Kenya garnered 129 votes.
Djibouti registered 62 votes in the latest voted after Kenya initially scored 113 votes against Djibouti 78.
Africa’s representatives were forced into the second round of voting after neither of the contenders garnered at least two thirds (128) of the voting member states (193) to be declared the winner in the initial round of voting that was carried out on Wednesday, June 17.
India, Ireland, Mexico and Norway secured the four other non-permanent member seats.
