Sakaja Fined Ksh500,000 For Ignoring Summons

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja was on Tuesday November 27, fined for failing to honour Senate summons.

According to Kiambu Senator Karungo Thang’wa, the governor failed to honour six invitations from the Committee on Roads, Transport and Housing.

The Committee however gave Sakaja an ultimatum upto to Thursday to avail himself failure to which they will seek police intervention.

“Today, my Committee on Roads, Transportation, and Housing, which I chair, has RESOLVED to impose a fine of Kshs 500k on Governor Sakaja of Nairobi for failing to honor the committee summons. He has repeatedly refused to appear before the committee despite six invitations extended to him, ” the senator stated.

” He now has until Thursday to appear before the committee, or the Inspector General will be instructed to bring him before the Senate, ” he added.

The Committee is pushing to make inquiries over specific Projects in the county including various roads earmarked for repair and construction.
