As Anne Waiguru wait to see her fate put before the eleven Senate committee led by Senator Malala, five more Governors are staring at their sack as the MCAs plot to throw them out of office over alledged graft and abuse of office.
Governors Salim Mvurya (Kwale), Charity Ngilu (Kitui), Patrick Khaemba (Trans Nzoia), Mohamed Kuti (Isiolo) and Bungoma’s Wycliffe Wangamati are not sitting easy after members of their respective County Assemblies has issued warning that it’s a matter of when but not if they will table an impeachment motion.
Makueni Senator urged the Senate to debate Waiguru’s case soberly as the senate waits for more governors from western, eastern, coast, and northeastern regions.
“Mr. Speaker, Sir I want to ask senators to approach this debate on Anne Waiguru’s impeachment in a sober manner bearing in mind there are about five more which are coming,” Mutula Kilonzo said.
The above-mentioned governors have engaged in a fierce fight with their respective MCAs who have accused them of getting involved in the plunder of public resources, nepotism, and abuse of office.
Governor Ngilu (pictured above) has, however, has accused Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka of being behind her woes.
Kitui Members of County assembly has begun collecting signatures for an impeachment motion against Governor Ngilu.
“During my inauguration, Kalonzo warned that I won the gubernatorial seat but I will have a brought time because his party controls the assembly. He termed my win as a minority government,” Governor Ngilu told a local newspaper.
The Members of County Assembly have refused to coöperate to carry out my development programs on instructions from their father Kalonzo who has never initiated a project in Kitui for the last 35 tears,” Ngilu added.
Ngilu also lamented that the MCAs have frustrated her efforts to set up a Public Service Board that will use essential manpower for the delivery of key services within the county.
The Governor of Isiolo is however wanted out by the county assembly over alleged graft and nepotism.
At least 17 members of the county assembly of Isiolo claim Governor Kuti has failed to account for funds allocated to the county.
The MCAs also accuse the governor of allegedly trying to silence them when they seek accountability for county funds.
But Kuti has filed a notice of preliminary objection saying the matters raised by the MCAs are under the exclusive jurisdiction of other constitutional bodies and he wants the court to throw out the petition that wants him impeached.
Governor Mvurya has vowed to stand firm after some MCAs vowed to remove him from office after weeks of fighting after they rejected an allocation of Sh160 million for Covid-19 relief food.
The assembly instead redirected the money to health services and left the county executive with Sh5 million for the coronavirus initiative.
The county assembly speaker, Sammy Ruwa insisted that the supplementary budget that was taken before the assembly was “procedural”.

“There is no notice nor motion to impeach the governor. He was only summoned to appear before the assembly on June 17, but he did honor the invite. He asked for more time to appear before the assembly to shed more light on some development issues,” The county assembly speaker said.
Fatma Masito, a nominated MCA accused the governor of not able to account for the Sh160 million put aside for the supplementary budget. The accusation has however been dismissed by Kwale county director of communication, terming it unfounded.
The fight between Governor Wangamati of Bungoma escalated after the members impeached two members of his executive over corruption allegations.
After sending Health executive Anthony Walela and his counterpart of Public Administration Richard Sabwami, the MCAs now are focusing on Mathews Makanda of Agriculture.
The Bungoma MCAs have accused the members of the executive of gross misconduct, corruption, abuse of office, irregular recruitment of staff.
In Trans Nzoia Governor Khaemba has dared the members of the county assembly to go ahead to impeach him.
“I am tired of these MCAs who for a long time been using these dirty tricks to force me to give in to their thirst for money,” the governor said.
The MCAs have challenged the governor to account for the money disbursed by the National Treasury since the onset of devolution or he face impeachment.
