Energy and Petroleum Authority of Kenya on Tuesday November 14 reduced diesel and kerosene prices by Ksh2.
The price of petrol remained unchanged in the period under review.
Accordingly, the price of Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene will retail at Ksh217.36, Ksh203.47 and Ksh203.06 respectively effective midnight.
The prices are inclusive of the 16 per cent Value Added Tax (VAT) in line with the provisions of the Finance Act 2023, the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2020 and the revised rates for excise duty adjusted for inflation as per Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020.
In Nairobi, petrol will retail at Ksh217.36, diesel Ksh203.47 and Kerosene at Ksh203.06.
The new fuel prices will run till December 14 when the regulator will announce new charges.
In the press statement, EPRA noted that the landing cost increased which made it difficult to lower fuel prices by a larger margin.
The dollar also played a huge part making pump prices remain high past Ksh200 despite neighbouring countries lowering the product charges.
The slight reduction came after Energy Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir had warned that a liter would cross Ksh300.
He attributed the sharp rise to global factors such as withholding of the product by some producing nations and conflict between Israel and Hamas.
This sparked uproar from a section of Kenyans as global fuel prices had plunged by close to 4 per cent.
Agigated Kenyans also questioned the government to government deal which was meant to address the dolar situation and price of fuel.
They also questioned why President William Ruto failed to highlight it in his State of the Nation Address.Â
