Pastor Paul Mackenzie Found Guilty of Distributing Unclassified Films

Date:

Pastor Paul Mackenzie has been found guilty of distributing unclassified Films.

In a statement released on Friday November 10, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution indicated that the court established that the controversial preacher violated the law in distributing films without obtaining consent of the Communication Authority of Kenya.

“One Paul Mckenzie has today been found guilty of being in possession and distributing films which have not been classified and operating a filming studio without a valid filming licence. Prosecution’s Joseph Mwangi proved the case, ” the statement read in part.

” Court also ordered that a pre-sentence report be filed by the Probation and Aftercare Services to capture the sentiments of the complainant, which is the Prosecution, ” it added.

The case will be mentioned on  December 1, 2023.

On Thursday November 9, the case failed to continue after Mackenzie’s legal team requested more time to respond to the accusations leveled against him.

“Mackenzie’s lawyer, Wycliffe Makasembo, asked for more time to fine-tune his response to the State’s application to have his clients detained for 180 more days pending charges, ” DPP’s statement read in part.

The case failed to be heard despite the prosecution led by Assistant DPP Jami Yamina opposing the submission by Makasembo. The prosecution underscored the graveness of the matter before the court and that a similar delay had happened two times.

“He claimed that this is the third time the suspects in the Shakahola massacre case, which resulted in over 400 deaths, sought to adjourn proceeding in respect to the State’s application seeking their detention pending charges,” DPP explained.
