Students of Moi University and the teaching and non-teaching fraternity were treated to a rare spectacle, when one of the aspirants for the student leadership position opted to use donkeys for his campaigns.
John Osiko, a third year student, not only used donkeys but emulated Jesus’s triumphant entry into Jerusalem, as he was accompanied by 12 of his ‘disciples’ as they went out to convince students of the institution to vote for him.
Osiko said that he opted to use donkeys so as to cut costs because he didn’t have money to hire luxurious cars like his opponents and other contestants.
“My opponents already hired cars and I did not have money to hire the same cars, so my campaign team advised me to go for a donkey. It was a strategy and also I wanted to cut costs. I didn’t have to hire the donkeys, I just requested for them from a villager,” he said.
Another report revealed that he was vying for the delegate of the school of Arts and Social Sciences and he apparently won after defeating three other contestants.
