Plans to honour marathon legend Eliud Kipchoge with a state of art stadium in Kapsabet Town, Nandi County picked pace after the national government embarked on the tendering process.
In an advertisement published by Sports Kenya, the government welcomed tenders for the stadium construction, asking interested bidders to return their documents on October 26.
To further expedite the construction process in honour of Eliud Kipchoge, Nandi Governor Stephen Sang noted that the county government had set aside the required land.
Sang added that the county was in the advanced phase of obtaining all the required documents before ground works resume.
Speaking at the Kapsabet showground after inspecting the ground, the governor thanked the county leadership under the guidance of Head of Public Service Felix Koskei and local MPs whose collective efforts had hastened the realization of the project
“Nandi, famed as the cradle of champions is happy to host the facility. We thank the national government and all stakeholders for their tireless dedication to this endeavor,” he stated.
The stadium once complete is expected to play a crucial role in harnessing sporting talents in the region, especially in athletics.
According to analysts Kipchoge’s honour will also motivate other athletes to break more barriers and set records in the athletic field.
The Stadium will also seal Kipchoge’s legacy in the Kenyan sports arena, especially with his famous tagline, No Human is Limited.
