Why Hassan Joho is not seen in public with Raila Odinga anymore

Date:

Where is Hassan Joho? Why has he been missing in the public?

Hassan Joho, a former governor of Mombasa and a political ally of Azimio leader Raila Odinga, has been missing from the public eye and the coastal city of Mombasa for more than three months.

He last appeared in public on September 23, 2022, at the Mama Ngina Waterfront, during the oath taking session of his close friend, the new governor of Mombasa, Abdulswamad Nassir.

His closest allies, who benefited from his political ties to conduct business, have been left abandoned by his departure from the public. Mr. Joho has been sharing photos enjoying life broad, including in Dubai, the Netherlands, and other countries.

Job Tumbo, his former chief of staff, revealed that his previous boss is currently in Dubai exploring  his “other personal interests.”

But he’ll soon return to Kenya. After politics, there is always life, he declared. After the general election on August 9, Joho is rumored to have discretely left the country.

“He is out of the country but he is going to come back. I talk to him all the time and even this week we talked. When he comes back, he will join the party and make his contribution. ODM is very much united and strong, same thing with Azimio,” said Raila Odinga weeks ago.

When Mr. Odinga lost the elections on August 9, Joho, who was seen as the political kingpin of the Coast was left sitting on the fence. If Mr. Odinga had won, he was set to become the Lands Cabinet Secretary.
