Two dead as boat capsizes at Pirate’s Beach Mombasa on Christmas Day

Two of the twelve members of the Nairobi family perished at Pirate’s Beach.

At Mombasa’s Jomo Kenyatta Beach, often known as Pirate’s Beach, a boat carrying a family capsized, turning their Christmas Day celebrations sad.

Mahmoud Noor, the chairperson of the Mombasa Red Cross, stated that one member is still in the intensive care unit (ICU).

Children who were present with the family at the time of the occurrence and are between the ages of 3 and 5 months are recovering well.

The accident’s cause has not yet been identified.

Safety awareness campaign, organized by the Kenya Wildlife Service, the Coast Professional Lifeguards, and other parties is ongoing.

The aim is to ensure the safety of vacationers visiting the beaches over Christmas and New Year’s, particularly at the busiest beach, Jomo Kenyatta Beach, where activities are now available 24 hours a day.

Head of Maritime Safety KMA Luke Samba reported that the meteorological department had given them the assurance that there wouldn’t be any high winds in the upcoming days.
