Liberians confused as President George Weah goes missing since October

Date:

George Weah hasn’t been spotted in Liberia since he left the West African nation in October 2022.

Liberians, led by their opposition leaders have launched a fictitious search of their president, George Weah, whom they accuse of wasting the country’s resources by overstaying overseas.

President Weah left the country in late October to travel to Morocco and Egypt to attend the MEDays Forum and COP27, respectively. He left Egypt on November 9 and traveled to Paris, France to take part in the 5th Paris Peace Forum.

Later, he took a flight to Qatar to watch his son Timothy Weah compete for the USA at the 2022 World Cup.

According to a dispatch from Doha, Qatar, where President Weah is one of the Guests of Honor for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, he won’t be coming home to Liberia until the 18th of December.

“As it is now, the President has not demonstrated to us that his extension or stay to watch FIFA football games could yield any benefit to this country. And so, I’m asking the Liberian Senate to launch a legislative probe into the information provided by the President because, our information gathered, with evidence attached, shows that the President misled the Liberian people through the Liberian Senate for an extension,” the Senator says.

According to Senator Abraham Darius Dillon of the Liberian Parliament, Weah’s extended trip is costing the country’s taxpayers millions of dollars and is enraging the people.

In a nation where a large population is struggling with skyrocketing prices of essential commodities and insufficient infrastructure, Liberians are now complaining that President Weah left the country on auto-pilot.
