Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha To Appear Before The Senate

Date:

The Senate has summoned Education CS Prof. George Mahoga to appear before them Tuesday next week to give an explanation of the emerging issues within his ministry during the coronavirus pandemic that has affected the sector.

This comes after the Cabinet Secretary failed to honor an invite to the Senate twice earlier in the year.

The Senate Ad Hoc Committee on the Covid-19 Situation in the country has however booked a fresh date with the CS requiring him to appear before the committee virtually on June 16 at 10.30 am.

“A secure link will be shared with your office ahead of the sitting,” Clerk to the Senate Jeremiah Nyegenye told the CS in a letter to his office.

The clerk has however warned the CS that should he fail to attend the meeting on the specified time and date or to produce the documentation required by the Senate Committee, he risks being arrested as per the sections 19 (1) and 19 (3) respectively of the Parliamentary Powers and Privileges Act No.29 of 2017 or slapped with a fine not exceeding five hundred thousand shillings (Sh500000).
