The Azimio lawyers representing Raila Odinga and Martha Karua at the Supreme court did not spare the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission chairman Wafula Chebukati.
The lawyers claimed that Wafula Chebukati had a ghost worker in the IEBC system disguised as a personal assistant who had unlimited access to the electoral system despite not having the right to.
Apparently, Chebukati’s PA going by the name of Dickson Kwanusu together with other illegal faces accessed the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) a thousand times where he changed results from polling stations willingly.
According to the lawyers, Dickson Kwanusu had access to the system before, during and after the voting came to an end. Consequently, Raila and fellow petitioners wondered what a private citizen with no official mandate was doing inside the servers.
“He had wide powers in this system. While we may not see the fingerprints of the IEBC chairman in the IEBC system, we see his much larger presence through the actions of his PA.” Said Lawyer Philip Murgor.
Specifically, Dickson accessed the server 1,743 times and accessed forms 34As from the polling stations according to lawyer Murgor.
Another ghost face with the IEBC was one Abdi Dahir who reportedly accessed and verified 659 forms 34As.
The veteran lawyer added that 19 faceless foreigners were also involved in altering and deleting forms from the IEBC system. The petitioners tied the 19 with the Venezuelans who were arrested at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in possession of sensitive election materials.
Fast-forward, the Directorate of Criminal Investigation pursued the two where they concluded that the two were in the country with illegal passports. As a result, they deported them back to Venezuela even as the IEBC wafula Chebukati complained that his foreign staff were being victimized. Chebukati added that the foreigners were critical in the implementation of the electoral process.
