Winners And Losers: How Your Favorite Celebrities Performed In The Just Concluded General Elections

A huge number of entertainers from the music to comedy industry tried their luck in politics and vied in the August 9 general elections.

As expected, some won their respective races while others lost to opponents and might be just on their way back to practice their respective arts.

Here is a list of of celebrities who won and those who lost in the general elections.

Winners of the general elections

Jalang’o

Jalang’o was vying for the Lang’ata parliamentary seat under an ODM ticket. He defeated the incumbent Nixon Korir who was vying under a UDA ticket.

Korir has since conceded defeat and congratulated the former radio presenter and comedian for his victory in the elections.

DNG

Davidson Ngibuini alias DNG is another celebrity who successfully made into politics by clinching the Woodley Kenyatta Golf Course Ward MCA Seat. DNG sailed through victory after vying for the seat under a UDA ticket.

Ronald Karauri

The sport Pesa CEO  won the Kasarani Parliamentary seat after garnering 32,315 votes in the Tuesday 9 general elections. His opponent  John Njoroge came second with 30, 575 votes.

He vied on an Independent ticket after failing to clinch Jubilee’s ticket  during nominations.

Eko Dydda

The rapper clinched the Mathare North Ward seat in the just concluded elections. Taking to his social media handles, he congratulated everyone who voted for him.

“That was a landslide win,” he said.

Losers

Gabu of P-Unit

Gabu was also vying for the Woodley Kenyatta  Member of County Assembly seat. He has since conceded defeat and congratulated DNG for emerging victorious.

“We ran a good race, we did the work, but this was not our time,” Gabu shared on his Instagram account.

MC Jesse

Jesse was vying for the South Imenti Parliamentary seat on an Independent ticket. He chose to vie Independently after he was denied the UDA ticket in the party nominations conducted in April.

“I personally want to congratulate my worthy competitor Dr Shadrack as he prepares to be the new Mp for South Imenti. To my supporters take heart ni Siasa tu, let’s keep moving South Imenti as one Great Community,” he said in a statement

Shadrack Mwiti was vying on a jubilee ticket.

Bonnie Musambi

Musambi resigned from KBC to vie for the Kitui Central MP but lost to his competitor Makali Mulu.

“Hello, My Political JOURNEY begins officially! Despite open and daylight massive rigging in Kitui County including Kitui Central Constituency, I choose not to dispute MNA results. I therefore take this opportunity to congratulate my competitor the MP elect Hon. Dr. Makali Mulu!” he said in a tweet

Others who wanted to be voted for in the elections include radio presenter and songwriter Jahmby Koikai and musician Bahati. The duo were vying for MP Seats in Dagoretti South and Mathare respectively. Results of the two constituencies are yet to be released.
