Lunga Lunga member of parliament Khatib Mwashetani on Thursday lost four of his employees in a grisly road accident along Mombasa-Lunga-Lunga highway in Kwale county.
According to Peter Mutua Zimbi who is the Lunga-Lunga OCPD, the four who died were Khatib Mwashetani’s driver, a media personality and his two security. The four were from Msambweni to Lunga Lunga.
Following the accident, Kenyans had mixed reactions with majority proposing that they were very uncomfortable with the name “Mwashetani.”. As a result, they proposed that the government should go ahead and change that name from mwashetani to Mwayesu whether the member of parliament likes it or not.

“Mwashetani should first change his name to a better name? the name sounds as though it’s one of the contributers to your employees deaths???? may their souls rest in peace?”
“It’s high time he considers changing his name, Mwashetani isn’t really nice… Condolences to the families affected.”
“He should change his name asap..Does he expect the devil to sit back and relax when he is using a name associated to him.Condolences to the families of the bereaved.”
“Mwashetani is a horror name itself ,names have powers wether we like it or not.
Jocob means a liar ,he cheated his father Isaac & his brother Esau & took his Blessing.Later God changed Jacobs name to Israel -meaning the blessed one.”
“So sad, whenever you read malice, take caution. You knew the vehicle was tampered with but allowed your best friends and employees to use it, not even considering the danger it would cause to your immediate constituents/voters using the same road. May their souls rest in peace. Condolences to their families”
“You complain about his name and he was named by his parents just like you…who is to blame?anyways we’ve lost souls to road accident may they rest in peace.”
“Maybe he should have changed the name,just comes with bad luck na mapepo. Sorry to the family”
At the same time, the member of parliament revealed fresh details that might have led to the grisly road accident. According to him, he was convinced that the car was interfered with the previous night.
“With great sorrow, I mourn the death of my team members who succumbed to injuries when they were involved in a fatal road accident along the Mombasa-Lunga-Lunga at Bandu area in Lunga-Lunga sub-county,
“We believe that the four-wheel drive car was tampered with the previous night resulting in the cause of death of Five colleagues,” read his post.
